For many years dating back to 1998 on the World Wide Web, our founder
could see looming an ever increasing problem with Search Engine
accuracy and web entry listings that were misleading.
It concerned him that the new World Wide Web that opened a whole new
World to members of society and for all ages. Would be immediately
deterred from embracing the new technology as a result of immoral and
wreck less behaviour by individuals and organizations just for some
form of financial gain and who clearly demonstrated no moral compass.
Even some of the most well known names, even in existence today, shared
their part in deceitful methods to gain an advantage only to serve
their own interests and failing to adopt a long term view for eventual
co-existence success.
Apart from search engine results that were completely off mark and no
self regulation or responsibility being exercised by the owners of
these services. Came the dreaded pop up advertising and blame lays
squarely at the door of AOL especially. It was clear that the phenomena
of the World Wide Web could become a dirty word and rather than
encourage the exploration of the new technology. People would be more
reluctant to embrace it.
Most of the activity today, regarding the massive failings of search
engine service providers, is to address these very serious issues, to
protect the young and infirm. Their attitude, has placed these serious
matters at the back of their list of priorities. But history has always
confirmed in industry, that no business or entity, can survive, if
product is not coupled with customer service and support.
The RDF of search engine technology has only encapsulated alpha numeric
elements, but Tim Berners Lee, the creator of the web at the World Wide Web
Consortium has been working hard to include within the RDF
framework image elements. But the only way to provide a high quality
service of accuracy at this time and place in history is through good
old fashioned hard work. Unfortunately, the opportunists find such an
environment, alien to them. Hence the lack of change, to address these
very serious issues.
Riverside Networks never had any intention of introducing a search
engine service, it was forced upon the organization as a result of past
relationships of other large search engine services where they were
driven by money, rather than moral and ethical responsibility.
The parental ratings system, has not been an overnight consideration.
The founder, a parent himself has been deeply troubled for some years,
but had to devise a system that could be adopted by most responsible
organizations that would help them further improve the way they
delivered content, media and services that was transparent and not
misleading. That would enable them to be a factor in adding quality to
the World Wide Web network. |
